Meeting summaries
Daisy turns a meeting's transcript into a structured summary you can scan in seconds and edit when you need to.
Open the summary
Open a meeting and select the summary tab. A summary starts with a TL;DR callout, followed by the sections that apply to the meeting:
- Action items — each with an owner, and a due date when one was stated
- Decisions — only decisions actually made, not proposals still in the air
- Open questions — things left unresolved at the end
- Key topics discussed
Empty sections are left out rather than padded. Because Daisy knows which attendee is you, the TL;DR and your action items address you as "you"; everyone else is referred to by name.
Generate a summary
If a meeting has no summary yet, the summary tab shows a Generate summary button. Generating runs transcription and de-duplication first if the meeting hasn't been transcribed, then produces the summary — watch the progress overlay while it works. This step needs a summary provider, which you set in Settings → Providers. See Configuring providers.
Summaries always need an AI model — there's no fully offline option for this step. You can point Daisy at a cloud model with your own API key, or run a local AI server. See Running Daisy fully offline, and the FAQ for what providers cost.
Paste it into your own chat
If no provider is configured or reachable, the summary tab switches to paste-your-own mode: instead of a Generate button you get a text box and a Save summary button. Summarize for free using a chat you already have:
- Open the transcript tab and click Copy all. With no provider configured, Daisy prepends a ready-to-use prompt to the copied text.
- Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or any other chat, and let it write the summary.
- Copy the answer back, paste it into the summary tab's text box, and click Save summary.
Your audio never leaves your computer — only the text transcript does, and only if you choose to paste it.
Edit a summary
Click anywhere in the summary to open the editor, or open the Action menu and choose Edit summary. Make your changes and click Save.
To rebuild the summary from scratch, open the Action menu and hover Regen. Summary, then pick a style (see below). If you have hand-edited the summary, Daisy warns you before overwriting your changes.
Change the summary style
The summary styles live in the Action menu: hover Regen. Summary and a fly-out lists every style. Daisy Summarizer is always first — it's the default, a balanced general-purpose summary. Below it are the other built-ins (Zoom-style and Otter-style meeting notes, and the coaching styles) followed by any prompts you've saved. Click a style and the summary is rebuilt in it. Add or edit your own styles in Settings → Prompts, and set a per-tag style with tags.
